Cornea Vision has announced that the CorNeat KPro, which the company describes as the first artificial cornea that completely integrates with the eye wall with no reliance on donor tissue, has been successfully implanted in a human.
The surgery was performed on a bilaterally blind, 78-yearold male at Rabin Medical Center, Israel, by Professor Irit Bahar, Director of the Ophthalmology Department.
Dr Gilad Litvin, CorNeat Vision’s Co-Founder, Chief Medical Officer, and the inventor of the CorNeat KPro, said: “This is an extremely important milestone for CorNeat Vision, key in our journey to enable people around the world to fully enjoy their vision potential.”
