LEARNING EXPERIENCE
The ESCRS Observership Programme is a valuable learning opportunity for Young Ophthalmologists. The ESCRS offers a grant of €1,000 to young ophthalmologists to travel abroad to a European university hospital/clinic and observe clinical practice. The award programme is open to all European trainee ophthalmologists under the age of 40. Details are available on the ESCRS Young Ophthalmologists website: yo.escrs.org There is a list of centres on the website who have observership programmes available for visiting trainees. Grant awardees should contact the centres directly and agree all arrangements. Awardees may also accept observership places from institutions/clinics that are not on this list.VIDEOS FROM YOUNG OPHTHALMOLOGISTS
As part of its ongoing video education programme, the ESCRS is now promoting videos from Young Ophthalmologists on the ESCRS Player. These video excerpts from the Young Ophthalmologists Programme during the ESCRS Congresses show Young Ophthalmologists presenting footage of their early cases. A panel of experts offer tips and tricks on how to improve technique, avoid complications, and generally improve outcomes. Each video aims to show a particular complication or error common to beginners. Viewers, particularly those starting out in cataract surgery, will be able to sympathise and learn from their peers, through the expert guidance of the panel.
