Driving with blue toric IOLs

Early studies have suggested a benefit of nontoric blue light-filtering intraocular lenses (IOLs) when driving in glare conditions. Researchers investigated whether this also was the case for toric blue light-filtering IOLs. Using a driving simulator, researchers studied 18 patients with a toric ‘blue blocker' and 15 patients with a non-toric ‘blue blocker' IOL. The safety margin was defined as the time to collision less the time taken to turn at an intersection with oncoming traffic.
