Report of case
The patient was operated for a unilateral cataract at age 3. At age 8 the anisometropia was managed with an add on Staar Implantantable contact lens.
At age thirty three she again presented with myopic astigmatism in that eye and high myopia in the fellow eye. The eye with ICL then had femtolasik to correct myopia and myopic astigmatism. The fellow eye had femto assisted adtigmatic keratotomy and an implanted phacic implant ( IPCL) in the sulcus of the eye.
The outcome was perfect with 20/20 vision..
Conclusion / Take home message
Ametropia in congenital cararact cases can be effectively managed with corneal laser or phacic implants. Anisometropia should be managed to prevent amblyopia.
