Purpose

To present novel surgical device and method.

Setting

We describe a novel experimental device, (Vatavuk and Marić – „VaMa“) artificial

intraocular lens capsule (IOL), and a method that enables all IOL types with purpose

to be implanted „in the bag“, but here in patients with aphakia without efficient capsular support.

Methods

Surgical device and technique are presented in the video of three patients.

They underwent implantation of artificial capsule and subsequent IOL "in the bag" implantation.

Results

Postoperative results showed significant improvement in vision and were without any side effects.

Conclusion

This implant and technique are promising and could overcome disadvantages of current surgical techniques of secondary intraocular lens implantation.
