Purpose

QMR technology is the ultimate non invasive treatment for all types of dry eye disease. It stimulates biological tissue, promotes anti-inflammatory effect and stimulates the natural regeneration of cells and tissues.

Setting

Eye Surgery Center dr. Pfeifer

Methods

The therapy consists of 4 treatment sessions of 20 minutes each at 1 week interval. A special mask electrode is applied to treat the ocular surface area.

Results

First 15 patients with mixed dry eye disease underwent classical protocol of Rexon-Eye treatment from September 2023 to March 2024, together with other prescribed therapy for dry eye. Symptoms before the procedure were described based on the ocular surface disease index (OSDI) as moderate to severe. Signs described before treatment were NI- BUT less than 10sec, positive corneal flourescin staining (score included between 1 and 10 on the Oxford grading scale), Schirmer test less than 10mm, abnormal corneal epithelial map on OCT, Meibography more than 2nd stage. At least 2 months after the end of treatment, the patients' sympotms were evaluated based on OSDI via a phone call. Only patients whose symptoms did not improve significantly were invited for further examination. 13 patients reported significant improvement in symptoms, 2 patients did not notice any improvement.

Conclusion

QMR technology is a good additional therapy for all forms of dry eye disease (DED). Therapy is extremely pleasant for the patients and the results are longlasting. It is easy to perform and it significanly improves the symptoms of DED.
