Purpose
To evaluate clinical outcomes after Refractive Lenticule Extraction using VisuMax 500 (Carl Zeiss, Germany) femtosecond laser system for the high myopia treatment
Setting
Fyodorov Eye Microsurgery Federal State Institution, Moscow, Russian Federation
Methods
We observed 42 eyes (42 patients) with myopia from -7.75 to 10.0 D who had undergone ReLEx SMILE technology (main group) and 36 eyes (36 patients) with myopia from -7.25 to 10.75 D who had undergone FemtoLASIK technology (control group). All patients underwent complete refractive examination before and after surgery. Follow up period was 3 years
Results
Postoperatively, in the main group the UDVA 20/20 or better was achieved in 79%, in the control group - in 72% (p>0,05). In the main group, the gain of one or more lines of the CDVA was 11.9%, in the control group - in 11.1% (p>0,05). In the main group the predictability of targeted refraction within ±0,5 D was in 76%, within ± 1,0 D - in 90%, in the control group - in 69% and 83%, respectively (p>0,05)
Conclusion
Refractive Lenticule Extraction using VisuMax 500 femtosecond laser is effective, safe, predictable and stable method for high myopia correction
