Purpose

Abstract Purpose: To evaluate the optical, functional outcomes and patients satisfaction after Implantation of segment vario focal IOLs and asymmetric multifocal toric Lentis Mplus toric in the eyes after refractive surgery, LASIK and PRK.

Setting

eye clinic Cham, Janahof 2, 93413 Cham, Germany

Methods

In retrospective study 19 eyes of 14 patients were included in 8 eyes of 4 patients Acunex Variomax was implanted billateral, in 10 eyes Lentis Mplus toric X mono lateral. We evaluated the postoperative uncorrected (UCVA), best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) for distance, distance corrected intermediate and near visual acuity. The follow up was three months after implantation. The quality of vision, glare, halos and the personal satisfaction of the patients was assessed with a validated questionnaire.

Results

Postoperative UDVA, UIVA, UNVA Acunex Variomax was 0,9, for the intermediate vision 0,7, for near 0,88, of Lentis Mplus X toric 0,84, 0,74, 0,88

Postoperative CDVA, DCIVA, DCNVA Acunex Variomax was 0,9, 0,7, 0,88, of Lentis Mplus X toric 0,88, 0,74, 0,88.

The Mean refraction +0,5 D, the Range +1,0- -1,0 D

60% of the patient were completely satisfied, 40%satisfied, 0% not satisfied with the achieved results.

All patients were able to perform task of daily life, reading newspaper, 85% were able to read books without glases.

Conclusion

The patients showed improvement in distance, intermediate, and near visual acuities and generally high satisfaction postoperatively.

In our opinion the segment Variofocal IOLs and asymmetric toric MFIOL are the best solution after refractice laser surgery, because of high light transmission and less halos and glares in comparison of Trifocal IOLs.
