Purpose
To present the real-world PROM (Patient Reported Outcome) data of patients implanted with RayOne EMV (RAO200E) to evaluate the ability of the RayPRO digital system for collecting PROM.
Setting
Multicentre retrospective study with anonymised worldwide real-life data analysed from the cloud based RayPRO database regarding the RayOne EMV intraocular lens.
Methods
Anonymised data of patients who underwent cataract surgery with implantation of the Rayner RayOne EMV IOL (RAO200E) and previously registered on the RayPRO digital system were analysed postoperatively. Online questionnaires were sent to each patient via email. Patient-reported outcome measures (PROM) including expected vision, spectacle independence, patient satisfaction and need for additional procedures were collected at 1-week, 3-months and at 12-months postoperatively.
Results
In this analysis 329 implantations with RayOne EMV IOL were extracted from the RayPRO database. 94% of cases rated to have achieved their expected vision. Overall patient satisfaction with the outcome, surgeon and hospital was 88%, 94% and 93% respectively. Overall spectacle independence for distance, intermediate and near was achieved in 91%, 85% and 65% of cases respectively. Dysphotopsia at night was not reported by any patient. No patient needed an additional procedure at 12-months postoperatively.
Conclusions
Online digital systems such as RayPRO represent useful tools for the evaluation and monitoring of PROM. Systematic and standardised collection of data from patients all over the world offer the potential to analyse big data in real-time to evaluate the optical performance of different IOL models and compare the patient satisfaction level accordingly.
