Title: Intermediate Visual Acuity Outcomes With The Acrysof Iq Aspheric Iol From A Pooled Analysis Of Two Large Rct's

 

To report the binocular intermediate and other visual outcomes of subjects from different regions implanted with an AcrySof IQ aspheric intraocular lens (IOL) from 2 large randomized controlled trials. 

 

 

 

 

 

 Two prospective, controlled clinical trials conducted in Australia, Europe, and North America. 

This paper presents the results of a pooled analysis of patients binocularly implanted with the AcrySof IQ SN60WF aspheric monofocal IOL targeting emmetropia. At 6 months post-operative MRSE, binocular uncorrected distance, best-corrected distance, and intermediate (66cm) visual acuity, reported outcomes for vision, and spectacle independence were collected. Our report includes a large sample of subjects sourced from 2 prospective, controlled clinical trials conducted in Australia, Europe, and North America using comparable clinical methods and validated questionnaires.

 

 Data were pooled for a total of 233 binocular subjects. At 6 months, mean (SD) MRSE, binocular uncorrected distance and best corrected distance visual acuities were 0.036(0.371), -0.019 (0.110) and -0.088 (0.082) logMAR respectively. Mean (SD) binocular uncorrected intermediate visual acuity (66cm) was 0.125 (0.145) logMAR (20/25 Snellen), with 82.5% of patients reporting uncorrected functional intermediate acuity of better than or equal to 20/32. Patients reported “very good” or “good” uncorrected vision in 92.2% of subjects at distance and 62.9% subjects at intermediate. Percentages of patients reporting “never wearing glasses” at 6 months were 86.4% at distance and 41.4% at intermediate. 

 

 

 

 Data from a large pool of bilaterally implanted subjects from multiple regions indicates that the AcrySof IQ aspheric IOL provides excellent distance vision, and functional intermediate vision up to 0.125 (0.145) logMAR (or 20/25 Snellen).
