Purpose
Setting
the investigation was conducted from January 2020 to December 2021 in the microsurgery eye department of Zaporizhzhia Regional Clinical Hospital, Ukraine.
Methods
Among total number of eyes with age cataract posterior subcapsular cataract was revealed in 312 cases (26 %). All cases of posterior subcapsular cataract were assessed preoperatively using OCT. The mean age of patients was 54 ±12,7. Full ophthalmological examination including optical coherence tomography (OCT) using RTVue XR Avanti (Optovue, Inc., Fremont, CA) was performed. OCT of the lens was executed in Cross Line, 3D Cornea modes.
An assessment of the posterior capsule, position of lens opacities, their relationship with the posterior capsule and state of retrolental space was carried out. Retrospective analyses of the peculiarities of surgical technique and intraoperative complications were performed
Results
The first type 186 eyes (60%) was characterized by the intact posterior capsule, hyporeflective space with inclusions of different reflexivity and homogeneous hyperreflective foci in the posterior cortical layers. Surgical technic include gentle hydrodissection and hydrodelineation, full nucleus rotation, polishing of posterior capsule. The second type 116 eyes (37%) was characterized by dense adherence of hyperreflective foci in posterior cortical layers to the posterior capsule. Cataract surgery was performed without hydrodissection and nucleus rotation. Posterior capsule opacification was observed in most cases. In 13 cases (4%) were find posterior polar cataract with different changes of posterior capsule and retrolental space.
