Purpose

To assess early visual and optical quality recovery after Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL) for myopia and myopic astigmatism treatment.

Setting

Bellecour Vision Clinic, France

Methods

This retrospective study included 83 eyes of 45 patients with a mean spherical equivalent (SE) of -7.20 ± 2.46 diopter (D) implanted with myopic or toric ICL.

Visual acuity (VA), Contrast Sensitivity (CS), Refraction, Modulation Transfer Function Cut off (MTF cut off), Objective Scatter Index (OSI) and Strehl Ratio (SR) were measured in preoperative, at 1 day , 4 days and 1 month postoperatively.

Results

At 1 Day, all eyes presented a CDVA of 20/20 Snellen.

At 1month mean of UDVA was -0.1 ± 0.06 LogMAR with a mean SE of +0.21 ± 0.32 D. Excepted to 6 Cycles per degres (CPD), the mean CS values at 3, 12 and 18 CPD were significantly better at 1 month than preoperatively.

At 1month, the mean OSI values, mean MTF cut off and SR recovered the preoperative values (p> 0.05)

Conclusions

After ICL implantation for correction high myopia and myopic astigmatism, the patients recovered the preoperative quality of vision with spectacle at 1month postoperatively.
