Purpose
The purpose of fitting contact lens in the preoperative phase is to let the patient experience how will be the vision after the surgery
Setting
CAMO-Centro Ambrosiano Oftalmico located in Milan, Italy
Methods
Soft silicone hydrogel contact lenses with high Dk/t are fitted on extended wear basis for a period of 15 days in order to evaluate if the refractive result matches the patient's visual needs
Results
Contact lenses fitting in the pre-operative phase can play an important role because it is a safe and flexible practice that provides essential information for surgery.
The patient really likes it, because it allows to experience the after surgery vision
Conclusions
Soft contact lenses represent a very useful tool for evaluation of post-operative refractive target, monovision tolerance, doble vision risk and the correct refraction in patients with large difference between subjective refraction and cicloplegic refraction
