Purpose
is to describe a rare condition, bilateral keratoconus posterior with anterior segment dysgenesis and underlying systemic anomaly.
Setting
Eye Clinic, University Hospital Center „Sestre milosrdnice“ Zagreb, Croatia.
Results
66-year-old woman with one eye amblyopic and no history of injury, reported loosing visual acuity in the last two years. She was studied with specular microscopy, slit lamp examination, indirect ophthalmoscopy, anterior and posterior segment optical coherence tomography, corneal tomography and gonioscopy. According to the findings different diagnosis were considered, including Peters' anomaly and corneal dystrophy.
Conclusions
Posterior keratoconus (or keratoconus posticus), first described in 1930 by Butler, is sporadic, usually nonprogressive corneal disease, but it also depends on associated ocular anomalies.
