Purpose

To present clinical data on visual acuity, defocuscurve and photopsia profile of the new Tecnis Symfony Plus Optiblue intra ocular IOL (J&J Vision)

Setting

Department of Ophthalmology, Elisabeth TweeSteden Ziekenhuis, Tilburg, The Netherlands

Methods

10 eyes have been implanted with a Tecnis Symfony Plus Optiblue intra ocular IOL. Outcomes measures include  visual acuity (UDVA, CDVA, UIVA, DCIVA, UNVA, DCNVA), defocus curve and photopsia profile

Results

(preliminary) a broad defocus curve is shown : Snellen Visual Acuity / Diopter defocus is : +1/0.38, +0.5/0.68, plano/0.98, -0.5/0.98, -1/0.98, -1.5/1.0, -2/0.98, -2.5/0.83, -3/0.70. UDVA, DCVA: 1.0+, UIVA, DCIVA: 1.0, UNVA, DCNVA, Jaeger 2. Photopsia profile: slight starburst phenomena

Conclusions

The new Tecnis Symfony Plus optiblue IOL shows improved visual acuity values and enhanced defocus profile compared to its predecessor Tecnis Symfony IOL. Photopsia were perceived as minor disturbant phenomena
