Purpose

To compare the clinical outcomes between two types of mix-and-match implanted Femtis Comfort-Lentis Mplus MF30 and Femtis Comfort-Femtis Mplus MF30 intraocular lenses (IOLs).

Setting

Retrospective cross-sectional study.

Methods

A total of 36 eyes of 18 patients with mix-and-match implanted Femtis Comfort FB-313 MF15 and Lentis Mplus LS-313 MF30 IOLs (Femtis15-Lentis30 group) and 34 eyes of 17 patients with mix-and-match implanted Femtis Comfort FB-313 MF15 and Femtis Mplus FB-313 MF30 IOLs (Femtis15-Femtis30 group) were enrolled. Binocular corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA) at 5 m, unccorrected near visual acuity (UNVA) at 40 cm, and monocular and binocular defocus curves were measured at 2 months after surgery. Modulation transfer function (MTF), Strehl ratio, objective scatter index (OSI) were measured using Optical Quality Analysis System (OQAS).

Results

Three was no significant difference in binocular CDVA and UNVA between the Femtis15-Lentis30 (0.00 and 0.12 logMAR, respectively) and Femtis15-Femtis30 group (0.01 and 0.12 logMAR, respectively). The monocular defocus curves showed that mean visual acuity of the Femtis Comfort IOL was significantly worse than that of the Lentis MF30 and Femtis MF30 IOLs at -1.50 D and at between -2.50 D to -4.00 D of defocus. On the other hand, there was no significant difference in the mean visual acuity in the binocular defocus curves between two groups. The Lents MF30 IOL had higher MTF Cul-off value and Strhel ratio compare to the Femtis Comfort and Femtis MF30 IOLs. The Femtis MF30 IOL showed highest OSI value among three IOLs.

Conclusions

The mix-and-match implanted Femtis Comfort FB-313 MF15 and Lentis Mplus LS-313 MF30 IOLs and the mix-and-match implanted Femtis Comfort FB-313 MF15 and Femtis Mplus FB-313 MF30 IOLs provided similar far and and near vision.
