Purpose
To determine the refractive outcomes after cataract surgery in patients that have received a trifocal intraocular lens (IOL) (toric or non-toric version) based on power calculations using VLynkTM at the time of surgery.
Setting
Single surgeon at an academic institution and hospital setting.
Methods
Patients that are scheduled for cataract surgery and are candidates to receive a trifocal or toric trifocal IOL will be included for study. Preoperative data will be obtained via the IOLMaster 700 (Carl Zeiss Meditec) and the VerionTM image guided system. At the time of surgery, intraoperative aphakic measurements and IOL power and axis calculations will then be obtained in these same patients with the VLynkTM system. The appropriate intraocular lens will be selected based on the intraoperative biometry. The primary outcome is spectacle independence for distance, intermediate and near at 1 and 3-months. Secondary outcomes will assess contrast sensitivity, and patient satisfaction.
Results
The study will conclude 4/2022 and results will be available at this time.
Conclusions
This study will address scientific medical gaps that need to be addressed with the introduction of trifocal and trifocal toric IOLs to the US market.
