Purpose
To detect the factors associated with changes in high-order aberrations afetr phacoemlusification for age-related cataract
Setting
Department of Ophthalmology, Sohag University Hospital, Sohag Faculty of Medicine, Sohag, Egypt.
Methods
200 eyes with age-related cataract and underwent uneventful phacoemulsification were included. Assessment of high-order aberration using Oculus corneal Topographer was done preoperatively and at 1, 3 and 6th months postoperatively. Statistical analysis was performed. All preoperative data including age, gender, axial length, IOL power were analyzed. Intraoperative parameters as corneal incisions, OVD and IOL was also determined.
Results
There was stsistically significant positive correlation between HOAs and both axial length and age of the patient. However, other factors including IOL type and corneal incisions did not show any significant correlation.
Conclusions
HOAs afetr phacoemulsification are associated with high myopia and advanced age more than other studied factors.
