Purpose
To demonstrate the possibility of refining the measurement and calculation of intraocular lens in eyes with higher kappa angle, astigmatism, and variance of keratometry.
Setting/Venue
Lexum Eye Clinic, Czech republic
Methods
We illustrate two cases of eyes with higher kappa angle values when conventional and guided biometry measurements were performed. Biometry was performed on an IOLmaster 700. Topography was visualized by Pentacam. The presentation also includes a smaller set of eyes with higher kappa angle values that underwent cataract surgery.
Results
The presentation informs about the methodology of guided biometrics and the principles of detecting eyes at risk where it is appropriate to perform it. For the documented eyes, we achieved better results than the conventional methodology thanks to guided biometry.
Conclusions
By correctly identifying eyes at risk and using guided biometry, we can refine the calculation of intraocular lens values.
