Abstract Details

To evaluate clinical outcomes after implantation of a apodized diffractive multifocal intraocular lens (IOL) with different add power +3.00D and +2.25D contralaterally.

Apgujung Eye Center in Seoul, Korea

This is a prospective, case series of cataract patients who underwent bilateral implantation of the multifocal IOL, Bunnylens MF (Hanita Lenses, Israel) . Bunnylens MF (+ 2.25 D) was implanted in a dominant eye, and Bunnylens MF (+ 3.00 D) was implanted in a non-dominant eye. Uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA), uncorrected intermediate visual acuity (UIVA), uncorrected near visual acuity (UNVA), and manifest refraction (MR) values were measured at 1 month, and 3 months postoperatively. At the 3-month follow-up, defocus curve, contrast sensitivity, overall satisfaction, and spectacle independence were evaluated.

156 eyes of 78 patients with a mean age of 57.47±5.80 (range: 47-75), were included in the study. Mean UDVA, UNVA and UIVA remained stable through postoperative visits and was 0.01±0.04 logMAR, Jaeger 1.51 and Jaeger 1.55 respectively at the 3 months visit. At the end of postoperative 3 months, MSE was 0.28±0.36 diopters (D) and 98.7% of the eyes were within 1.00 D of target refraction. There were no reported adverse events.

The Mix and Match implantation of Bunny IOL was safely implanted and successfully restored distance, intermediate and near visual acuity. High levels of spectacle independence were achieved at all distances including intermediate distance.
